Elle est obtenue gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 l\u2019action du g\u00e8ne barr\u00e9 \u00ab&nbsp;B&nbsp;\u00bb sur le noir. Ce g\u00e8ne \u00ab&nbsp;B&nbsp;\u00bb bloque la pigmentation de la plume par intermittence au fur et \u00e0 mesure qu\u2019elle pousse formant ainsi les barrures. Ces barrures couvrent la totalit\u00e9 du plumage, ainsi que le duvet du coq et de la poule. C\u2019est une caract\u00e9ristique propre au g\u00e8ne coucou. En cas de vari\u00e9t\u00e9 pure, les poussins sont autosexables d\u00e8s l\u2019\u00e2ge de 3 semaines par diff\u00e9renciation de la teinte.
